The retired general had been abducted alongside his wife on May 30, 2026. According to multiple credible reports, the bandits were neither arrested nor engaged by security forces during or after the handover. They simply left the scene and retreated into the forest without any resistance.
The Core Problem
The inability to apprehend these criminals, despite their open movement and direct contact with government representatives, demonstrates a fundamental failure of state authority. Security agencies are expected to protect all citizens, including former senior military officers. When armed criminals can abduct, detain, and ultimately cause the death of a retired general—and then return his body without facing any legal consequences—it signals that the state has lost control over its territory.
