The White House says it is going to take a closer look at a very serious mystery. President Donald Trump has ordered the government to investigate the deaths and disappearances of at least ten American scientists.
The reason this is a big deal is because of the kind of work these scientists did. According to officials, these were not just regular professors. They were experts in things like nuclear power, building spacecraft, and studying dangerous diseases. Many of them had special security clearances because they were working on secret projects for the United States.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the President wants answers. She said the White House is now working with the FBI and other important agencies to dig into what happened.
"The President wants no stone left unturned," Leavitt said. "These people were doing important work for our country. Their families have questions, and we want to make sure we find the truth."
President Trump also spoke about the situation briefly. He called it "pretty serious" and said he is paying close attention to what the investigators find.
What Happened to These People?
The government has not released a full list of names to the public yet. But the cases share some strange similarities. The scientists were found dead in situations that were hard to explain, or in some cases, they simply vanished.
The press secretary specifically mentioned one scientist, Dr. Ian Eckstrand. He was a researcher who studied germs and viruses. Leavitt said his death had "peculiar circumstances" and that it would be part of the new review.
Other scientists being looked at worked on projects involving very fast missiles, new types of metal for Navy ships, and powerful lasers.
In the past, local police departments handled these cases one by one. Because the deaths happened in different states, no one was looking at the big picture. Some were ruled suicides. Some were ruled accidents. But now, the White House wants the FBI to connect the dots. They want to know if there is a link between these ten people or if it is just a sad coincidence.
Keeping Secrets Safe
There is a bigger worry behind this investigation. The government wants to know if these deaths have anything to do with the secrets the scientists were carrying in their heads. Were they targeted because of what they knew?
It is a difficult job for the FBI because the information these scientists worked with is top secret. The investigation will have to be quiet and careful. But the White House says they are committed to sharing whatever they can with the public and, most importantly, with the families who are still waiting for news.
The administration hopes this new push will finally give some peace of mind to the people who work on America's most important and hidden projects.
