Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has embarked on a significant diplomatic tour covering Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey (Türkiye), in a move aimed at strengthening political ties, expanding economic cooperation, and engaging in regional strategic discussions. The visit, which takes place from April 15 to April 18, 2026, includes meetings with top leadership in all three countries and participation in international diplomatic events.

The first major stop is Saudi Arabia, where discussions are expected to focus on deepening defence cooperation, expanding energy partnerships, and reinforcing financial support for Pakistan’s struggling economy. Saudi Arabia has remained one of Pakistan’s most important economic allies, recently extending critical financial assistance that helped stabilize Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves. The two sides are also expected to review ongoing strategic agreements and explore new investment opportunities, especially in infrastructure and energy sectors.

Following Riyadh, Prime Minister Sharif will travel to Qatar, where talks are expected to center on trade expansion, investment inflows, and energy collaboration. Qatar has consistently played a key role in supporting Pakistan through energy supply agreements and financial cooperation. This visit is expected to further strengthen Qatar’s involvement in Pakistan’s development projects, particularly in ports, construction, and long-term energy security initiatives.

The final leg of the tour will take the Pakistani leader to Türkiye, where he is set to attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum. There, he will engage with global leaders and hold bilateral talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Discussions are expected to cover defence ties, regional security coordination, and expanding trade between the two nations, which already share strong historical and cultural relations.

Overall, the diplomatic tour reflects Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its international alliances at a time of regional uncertainty and economic pressure. Analysts believe the trip could play an important role in boosting foreign investment, reinforcing strategic partnerships, and enhancing Pakistan’s diplomatic influence across the Middle East and beyond.
